PUTINS KRIEG: Ukraine wechselt den Armeechef! Selenskyj reagiert auf Proteste und entlässt Syrskyj | WELT LIVEDer ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj hat Oberbefehlshaber Olexander Syrskyj entlassen. Mychajlo Drapatyj übernimmt die Führung der ukrainischen Streitkräfte. Das teilte Selenskyj auf Telegram mit.
Zuvor hatten sechs Tage in Folge mehrere Tausend Menschen in Kiew und anderen Städten demonstriert. Viele Teilnehmer waren jung. Sie forderten Syrskyjs Ablösung und die Rückkehr von Mychajlo Fedorow. Selenskyj hatte Fedorow in der Vorwoche als Verteidigungsminister entlassen.
Fedorow machte danach seinen Konflikt mit Syrskyj öffentlich. Beide stritten über die Kriegsführung. Fedorow stand besonders für ukrainische Drohneneinsätze gegen russische Ziele.
Selenskyj dankte Syrskyj für seine militärischen Verdienste. Er hatte seit Februar 2024 das Kommando geführt. Der 60-Jährige spielte eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verteidigung Kiews und der Gegenoffensive im Raum Charkiw 2022.
Für Fedorow kündigte Selenskyj eine „würdige Position“ an. Dort soll er sich weiter um die technische Entwicklung der Ukraine kümmern. Details nannte der Präsident nicht.
Das Verteidigungsministerium führt derzeit geschäftsführend Jewhenij Chmara. Selenskyj muss seine Kandidatur noch dem Parlament vorlegen.
