Faisal Chaudhry is an Assistant Professor at the UMass School of Law with a concurrent appointment in the Department of History at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School, a PhD in History from Harvard University, and a BA from Columbia University. His teaching spans property, environmental law, legal regimes in history, and the histories of the early modern and modern world.

Chaudhry’s research explores the intersection of law and political economy, focusing on the history of legal and economic ideas, property law, and the transition from early modern to modern legal systems in South Asia and the Islamicate world.
