Đến tháng 3 năm nay, ông vẫn xem TikTok là một mối đe dọa đối với an ninh quốc gia, nhưng đã thay đổi quan điểm khi cho rằng lệnh cấm đối với mạng xã hội trên sẽ gây tổn hại cho một số người trẻ, và càng làm lợi cho mạng xã hội Facebook.
Động thái của ông Trump đánh dấu bước ngoặt so với vài năm trước, khi ông ban hành sắc lệnh hành pháp để cấm TikTok tại Mỹ.
