Работа над лентой велась на Национальной киностудии «Беларусьфильм» и в стенах Полоцкого монастыря. За основу картины взято «Житие преподобной Евфросинии Полоцкой», текст которого в фильме читает настоятельница обители игумения Евдокия (Левшук).
Фильм был снят к празднованию 900-летия Спасо-Евфросиниевского ставропигиального женского монастыря — одного из древнейших центров духовной жизни Беларуси, основанного преподобной Евфросинией Полоцкой.
Создатели сознательно отказались от постановочных сцен и графических эффектов, выбрав традиционный документальный стиль — с акцентом на погружение в духовную атмосферу монастырской жизни.
