Das Erschöpfungssyndrom ME/CFS ist eine chronische Krankheit, bei der man ständig Schmerzen hat, müde ist, jede noch so kleine Verrichtung eine Kraftanstrengung ist. Menschen mit ME/CFS sind besonders empfindlich gegen Licht und Geräusche. Rund 650.000 ME/CFS-Erkrankte gibt es in Deutschland. Weltweit schätzt man 40 Millionen. Auslöser des chronischen Erschöpfungssyndroms ist oft eine Viruserkrankung. Deshalb kamen seit der Corona-Pandemie noch einmal viele Erkrankte hinzu. Verzweifelte Patienten können leicht Opfer fragwürdiger Heilungsversprechen werden. Da gibt es Angebote für Blutwäschen, Trinkkuren mit flüssigen Edelmetallen, Behandlungen mit Hitze oder teure Meditationsprogramme.
