Psychisch krank: Warum Kinder und Jugendliche auf Therapieplätze warten müssen

Angst in die Schule zu gehen, plötzliche Panikattacken oder Ess-Störungen: jeder Fünfte unter 18 in Deutschland erlebt innerhalb eines Jahres eine ernste psychische Krise. Das zeigen Studien. Trotzdem ist das Angebot an Therapieplätzen viel zu gering. In dieser 11KM-Folge erzählt Lisa Hentschel vom NDR von einer 15jährigen und ihrer langen Suche nach einem Therapieplatz. Zusammen mit ihrer Kollegin Esra Özer hat sie die Situation bei Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrien in Norddeutschland recherchiert. Ergebnis: die Wartezeit für einen Therapie-Platz beträgt durchschnittlich sechs Monate. Zu lang, sagen Experten, gerade bei Kindern und Jugendlichen komme es vor allem auf schnelle Hilfe an, ansonsten könnte sich die psychische Gesundheit noch verschlechtern.
