Las autoridades de transporte chinas han realizado inspecciones de seguridad en carreteras y vías férreas inmediatamente después del terremoto en Xizang.Los equipos de carreteras han despejado desprendimientos de piedras en tramos de la Autopista Nacional, pero hay restricciones de tráfico. Se insta a la población civil a tomar rutas alternas y dar prioridad a los vehículos de rescate de emergencia.
Mientras tanto, las operaciones de trenes que fueron interrumpidas tras el terremoto reanudaron el servicio con restricciones de velocidad el viernes por la mañana. El operador ferroviario informó que el terremoto afectó tramos de la línea entre Golmud y la capital de la región autónoma de Xizang, Lhasa.
La ruta de Golmud a Lhasa forma parte de la vía férrea del altiplano más alto del mundo, el ferrocarril Qinghai-Xizang.
