Recherchen von Kontraste und der Wochenzeitung DIE ZEIT legten im Herbst 2024 offen, dass die russische Seite das Gesprächsformat im Verborgenen weiterleben lässt - zumeist in Baku, der Hauptstadt Aserbaidschans. Dass vergangenes Jahr mit Ralf Stegner ein aktiver SPD-Politiker dabei war, machte Schlagzeilen. Mittlerweile hat es in Baku ein weiteres Treffen gegeben. Diesmal wieder mit dabei: Der ehemalige SPD-Ministerpräsident Matthias Platzeck und Ex-Kanzleramtsminister Ronald Pofalla von der Union. Wir haben die Ex-Politiker vor Ort gefragt, was sie mit den Russen zu besprechen hatten und ob die Bundesregierung davon weiß.
