Episode Berkas Kompas kali ini mengangkat kisah di balik ambruknya Pesantren Al-Khoziny. Kisah tentang santri yang selamat setelah tertimbun tiga hari, juga kisah tentang harapan yang terkubur bersama puing-puing pesantren dari orangtua santri yang meninggal dunia.Salah satu santri Alfatih Cakra Buana (14 tahun) berhasil selamat dengan luka ringan usai tiga hari tertimbun. Sebelum pesantren ambruk, Alfatih sempat meminta ke orangtuanya untuk kembali ke pondok pesantren pada hari Rabu. Namun, orangtuanya meminta Alfatih kembali ke pesantren pada Sabtu. Kejadiaan naas Senin, 29 September 2025 membuat sedikit ada penyesalan oleh orangtua Alfatih, tetapi tidak memutuskan harapan dan doa mereka atas keselamatannya.
Ambruknya Pesantren Al-Khoziny membuka fakta baru. Tak ada izin Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung (PBG) yang diajukan pengasuh pesantren ke Pemda Sidoarjo. Di satu sisi, Pemda Sidoarjo juga tidak mengawasi secara ketat pembangunan pesantren tanpa PBG. BNPB menilai ada kegagalan struktur total penyebab tragedi ini.
Polisi pun mendalami dugaan kelalaian dalam insiden ini. Namun, proses hukum tidak sekadar pembuktian dan keterangan saksi. Ada faktor budaya yang menyebabkan orangtua korban dan penyintas enggan menuntut kasus hukum dalam tragedi ini.
Pemerintah pun mulai menata pondok pesantren yang pembangunannya tidak memiliki PBG untuk memitigasi kasus serupa. Sebelum diatur lebih ketat, 67 orang kini menjadi korban dari ketidakpedulian. Peristiwa Al-Khoziny menjadi pengingat getir tentang kerapuhan itu. Tidak boleh lagi ada daftar anak-anak yang tak berdosa menjadi korban dari petaka konstruksi.
