TRIP REPORT | First Time on Easyjet A321Neo! | Tenerife to London Gatwick | EASYJET Airbus A321Neo
Easyjet Trip Report flying from Tenerife to London Gatwick onboard one of the new Easyjet Airbus A321Neo on a crazy stormy day in the Canary Islands and all the way to the UK.2 or 3 times per year, a big storm hits the Canary Islands. Well, this was one of those, in particular, Storm Olivier. The amount of water that was falling from those showers of rain was just incredible. At times, not even the runway was visible from the terminal! That's a visibility of less than 500m because of the rain! Crazy!
After some exploration and planespotting at Tenerife South airport's new terminal, we boarded the A321Neo that would take us to Gatwick. We boarded without a jetbridge, which offered us some amazing views of the brand-new plane.
We took off towards the south and, after some amazing views of the Teide volcano, we quickly made a 180° turn to start our route to London. We overflew Gran Canaria and left Fuerteventura and Lanzarote on our right. We flew in parallel to the African west coast and entered Portugal over Faro. From there we flew northbound until reaching again the Atlantic (Cantabrian Sea). From there, we flew directly towards the UK, landing on time in London-Gatwick.
The absolute highlights of this flight were, for sure, the 2 huge storms we saw: the first one was still at Tenerife airport. Have you ever seen such a rain intensity? And the second one enroute. Have you ever seen such an active thunderstorm clouds? What a day! :)
