UKRAINE: Bewegend! Sie verlor Bein im Krieg! Nun will Oleksandra für ihre Heimat eine Medaille holenDie Europameisterschaft läuft noch, doch in zweieinhalb Wochen beginnen die Olympischen Spiele 2024 in Paris. Trotz des andauernden Krieges haben sich 140 ukrainische Sportlerinnen und Sportler qualifiziert. Für viele ist dieser Wettkampf eine große Motivation, selbst unter schwierigen Bedingungen zu trainieren. Die achtjährige Alexandra Pascal, die bei einem Raketenangriff in Odessa ein Bein verlor, strebt nun die Paralympics an.
Trainer und Sportler fehlen oft in den ukrainischen Sportschulen, viele sind geflüchtet oder dienen in der Armee. 500 Sportanlagen wurden zerstört. Dennoch halten Athleten wie Hochspringerin Katharina Tavassol und Läuferin Anna Rischiko durch und hoffen, ein Zeichen zu setzen. Maxim Klinkschef, ein Silbermedaillengewinner der Olympischen Jugendspiele, fiel als Soldat. Sein Schicksal teilen über 400 ukrainische Sportler.
