Il primo ministro israeliano Benjamin Netanyahu ha avvertito i membri di Hamas che Israele «li raggiungerà molto più velocemente di quanto pensino se faranno del male a uno qualsiasi degli ostaggi israeliani rimasti. Come ha detto il portavoce di Hamas, hanno usato i nostri ostaggi come scudi umani, ovvero li hanno piazzati in luoghi che li avrebbero messi in pericolo. È orribile. Ha fatto inorridire anche il presidente. Ne ha parlato», ha detto in conferenza stampa Netanyahu, riferendosi alle dichiarazioni di Donald Trump di ieri, che mettevano in guardia Hamas dall'usare gli ostaggi come scudi umani. «Se torceranno anche un solo capello a un solo ostaggio, li daremo la caccia con maggiore forza fino alla fine della loro vita, e quella fine arriverà molto più velocemente di quanto pensino. Questo è ciò che dico ai leader di Hamas. Non avrete comunque alcun riparo. Ma il nostro sforzo per raggiungervi sarà raddoppiato di sette volte, e vi raggiungeremo molto più velocemente di quanto pensiate», ha aggiunto il premier israeliano.
