50 Festnahmen bei propalästinensischer Demo am Alexanderplatz
Berlin – Eine Demonstration am Alexanderplatz eskaliert. Die Polizei nimmt 50 Menschen fest. Mehrere Beamte werden verletzt. 800 Teilnehmer versammeln sich am Abend am Berliner Alexanderplatz. Anlass ist der Stopp der Gaza-Hilfsflotte durch die israelische Marine. Anfangs verläuft der Protest friedlich. Dann setzen sich Demonstranten auf die Straßenbahngleise.
Die Polizei fordert sie auf, die Gleise zu verlassen. Es kommt zu körperlichen Auseinandersetzungen. Die Einsatzkräfte lösen die Versammlung auf.
Demonstranten rufen verbotene Parolen und zünden Pyrotechnik. Vereinzelt fliegen Flaschen. Mehrere Polizeibeamte werden leicht verletzt, müssen aber nicht ins Krankenhaus. Der Straßenbahnverkehr wird vorübergehend lahmgelegt.
Am Donnerstag hatte Israels Marine die Global Sumud Flotilla im Mittelmeer gestoppt. Spezialeinheiten enterten rund 40 Boote kurz vor dem Gazastreifen. Über 400 Besatzungsmitglieder aus Dutzenden Ländern kamen in Gewahrsam.
Hintergrund des Gaza-Konflikts ist das Hamas-Massaker vom 7. Oktober 2023. Rund 1.200 Menschen wurden in Israel getötet, mehr als 250 als Geiseln verschleppt. Seit Kriegsbeginn starben nach Angaben der Hamas-kontrollierten Gesundheitsbehörde über 66.000 Palästinenser im Gazastreifen.
