Perselisihan ini sudah terjadi selama bertahun-tahun.
Namun, bentrok kedua negara semakin meningkat drastis lantaran kedua negara saling mengerahkan kendaraan tempur andalannya.
Di antaranya, Thailand dan Kamboja menggunakan tank tempur, dan pasukan infanteri di wilayah perbukitan berhutan lebat dan lahan pertanian.
Diketahui, kawasan itu adalah tempat masyarakat lokal menanam karet dan padi.
Kendati kedua negara saling tegang, Kamboja dan Thailand saling mengupayakan untuk mencapai gencatan senjata.
Perdana Menteri Kamboja, Hun Manet menekankan, kesiapan negaranya untuk menerima usulan gencatan senjata segera dan tanpa syarat.
Ia menyebut, Menteri Luar Negeri Kamboja akan berkoordinasi dengan Menteri Luar Negeri AS, Marco Rubio.
Hal itu bertujuan untuk membahas langkah lebih lanjut dengan Thailand.
