„Profisport für Frauen erlebt Aufschwung“, Sport-Managerin über Baseball-Liga für Frauen in den USA

Profi-Baseball in den USA, das war jahrzehntelang nur Männersache. Nur in den 1940er-Jahren während des zweiten Weltkriegs gab es für kurze Zeit professionelle Frauenteams. Der Grund: Männermangel. Die Frauen sprangen ein – allerdings nur bis Kriegsende.
Nun startet wieder eine professionelle Baseball-Frauenliga, in Springfield im Mittleren Westen der USA. „Profisport für Frauen erlebt einen Aufschwung. Die Leute haben entdeckt, dass es Spaß macht, uns zuzusehen und dass wir ehrgeizig sind. Diese Welle können wir nun reiten“, sagt Justine Siegal von Women´s Pro Baseball.
