Sepasang suami istri ini ternyata adalah pendatang baru di kawasan tersebut.
Kepala lingkungan 9, Rosmawati mengatakan mereka baru tinggal sekitar enam tahun di sana.
Tak hanya berdua, ada adik korban yang juga ikut tinggal bersama Alang dan Yap Siu Lian di lantai dua rumah.
Selama ini korban bekerja di sebuah panti sosial keagamaan Budha, sedangkan pelaku adalah pengangguran.
"Mereka tinggal disini pendatang selama 6 tahun. Kalau alamat aslinya di Kecamatan Medan Denai. Kalau ribut, sepertinya gak pernah ribut,"kata Rosmawati, Kamis (12/6/2025).
"Suaminya gak ada kerja. Kalau korban aktif di yayasan sosial begitu untuk agama Budha."
Akibat ditikam suaminya, korban mengalami tiga luka tusuk dan yang paling parah pada bagian perut.
Pelaku bahkan sempat menikam warga yang hendak menolong korban.
Setelah kejadian korban masih bernyawa dan dibawa ke RS Muhammadiyah Medan.
Namun karena luka yang dialaminya cukup parah, ia harus dirujuk ke RS Pirngadi.
Tetapi setibanya di RS Pirngadi, korban sudah tak bernyawa lagi.
Pelaku juga sempat digebuki hingga babak belur sebelum akhirnya dibawa ke Polsek Medan Area.
