(LaPresse) E' continuata anche nel 2025 l'agonia dei ghiacciai del Trentino dove sono stati registrati arretramenti medi di 18,5 metri con punte massime di 30-33 metri e una perdita di superficie glaciale che in meno di dieci anni ha ridotto da 30 a 20 chilometri le aree glacializzate. E' quanto emerge dal monitoraggio dei 16 ghiacciai del Trentino effettuato dalla Sat, la Società alpinistica tridentina che con i suoi 150 anni è la più antica d'Italia. Le misurazioni hanno messo in luce un quadro di sofferenza dei ghiacciai, dati confermati anche delle serie storiche: 51metri di arretramento nel 2022, 26 nel 2023 e 14 l'anno scorso. "La Sat attraverso la propria Commissione glaciologica da decenni monitora in modo sistematico gli arretramenti frontali dei più grandi ghiacciai del Trentino e, dal 2023, grazie alla collaborazione con Acqua Surgiva-Gruppo Lunelli, questo lavoro si è arricchito del monitoraggio delle variazioni di area con dati satellitari, integrati da rilievi effettuati sul campo attraverso droni e laser altimetri satellitari come IceSat-2 e Gedi", ha detto il presidente Sat, Cristian Ferrari. In videocollegamento ha partecipato anche Valter Maggi, presidente della Fondazione glaciologica italiana, che ha confermato la criticità del quadro emerso. "I bilanci di massa e le misure frontali mostrano che i ghiacciai italiani sono in forte crisi. Se nel settore occidentale, le alte montagne permetto ancora la conservazione di ghiacciai anche se sempre più ritirati alle quote più elevate, nel settore centrale, e ancor più in quello orientale, dove la catena alpina è più bassa, questo ritiro ha portato, in molti casi, alla scomparsa dei ghiacciai stessi, lasciando pochi testimoni che resistono al cambiamento climatico in atto".
