Portare al mare, tra sabbia e salsedine, il mio strumento di lavoro principale, un MacBook Pro pesante e dal valore di oltre 4.000 euro, è un rischio che non voglio correre. Scartato il mercato dell'usato per scarsa reperibilità dei 13 pollici e snobbati i ricondizionati ufficiali Apple per via di modelli M2 sovrapprezzati o varianti da 15 pollici troppo ingombranti, ho virato su una soluzione alternativa. La scelta è ricaduta su un MacBook Neo, equipaggiato con il processore A18 Pro, acquistato online alla cifra di 899 euro. Con un peso di appena 1,23 kg, si presentava come la perfetta macchina da viaggio. Ma come si comporta realmente un dispositivo del genere sotto il sole a picco, o quando viene messo alla frusta con l'esportazione di flussi video in 4K a 60 fps su Premiere Pro? L'ho utilizzato intensamente come unico computer per settimane, affrontando temperature roventi e render impegnativi, per capire se valga davvero l'investimento o se sia meglio guardare altrove.
