Iran’s supreme leader has publicly acknowledged for the first time that thousands of people were killed during recent anti-government protests as President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric and called for new leadership there. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made the remarks during a public address Saturday, blaming the U.S. for the unrest and violence and saying some protesters died "in an inhuman, savage manner.”The state of Minnesota and the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are suing the federal government to stop an enforcement surge by Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by an ICE officer. The state and cities filed a lawsuit in federal court on Monday, along with a request for a temporary restraining order to halt the enforcement action or limit the operation.
Europeans were reeling Sunday from U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that eight countries will face 10% tariff for opposing American control of Greenland.
The responses to Trump’s decision on Saturday ranged from saying it risked “a dangerous downward spiral” to predicting that “China and Russia must be having a field day.”
