I was given access to an early preview build of the game, which includes the first level and the boss fights within it. There's 3 encounters of this boss, the first two you encounter earlier on, and then the final boss version at the end of the level.

While it's hard to say from a single level alone, I've enjoyed my time with it so far. I've seen a fair few videos popping up since this was originally announced, and while I was interested in it, I wasn't sure whether or not it would be for me, or how it would feel to play. I've also never been huge on black and white media or games, but to be honest I didn't notice it at all while playing, which I consider to be a big positive. The art style itself is very charming, and the animations and gunplay are surprisingly good. There were a few moments where I found it a little difficult to judge movements due to the 2d/3d mix of art style, but otherwise it all felt quite smooth to play.

I tried to show all of the different weapons and attacks that you have at this early stage in the game in the first encounter, so people could get a feel for how they look and see the different animations behind them. As a result some of the gameplay is a bit slower paced than it otherwise would be, but I felt it was better to show them all off, rather than just efficiently deal with the boss.

Either way, after playing this I'm a lot more excited for the full release than I originally was. It's a charming game, it plays quite well, and I think it'll be nice for something different and unique to play when. I also think I was a little swayed by one of the characters being named Igorrr, which I can only assume was a reference to the band Igorrr. Slightly bizarre, and it feels way too specific to just be a coincidence, but I'm all for it.
