Blue Origin Reveals Starship-Like New Glenn Launch Pad | This Week in Spaceflight
Blue Origin has revealed its plans for a second launch pad at Launch Complex 36—and the design for New Glenn 9x4 looks surprisingly familiar. The new LC-36B features an elevated launch mount, flame trench, massive integration tower, and a pair of stacking arms reminiscent of SpaceX’s Starship launch sites.Rocket Lab also unveiled GHOST, a deployable launch system capable of turning shipping containers into a working launch site for Electron and HASTE. Meanwhile, the company has completed more than 400 Archimedes engine hot fires as it prepares the first full engine set for Neutron.
Stoke Space has assembled Nova’s payload module, fully reusable second stage, and Andromeda engine for the first time. We also cover Firefly’s upgraded Alpha Block II, progress on Eclipse and Terran R, the effort to rescue NASA’s Swift Observatory, and Spain’s spectacular total solar eclipse.
