González Pardo condenado por fraude migratorio y enfrenta juicio por derribo de Hermanos al Rescate
El exmilitar cubano Luis Raúl González Pardo, ex teniente coronel de las Fuerzas Armadas de Cuba, fue sentenciado a 7 meses de prisión por fraude migratorio ante la jueza Wendy Burger en la Corte Federal del Distrito Medio de Florida, en Jacksonville. González Pardo ingresó a Estados Unidos en 2024 mediante el programa de parol humanitario de la administración Biden, reclamado por su hermana e hija que residen en el país. Sin embargo, según la fiscalía, mintió sobre su pasado militar cubano durante su solicitud de residencia permanente.En la audiencia, González Pardo se disculpó ante el tribunal por haber mentido a las autoridades migratorias y agradeció el trato recibido durante su detención desde noviembre. Su hermana e hija apelaron a su buen carácter moral ante la jueza. No obstante, la fiscalía dejó en claro que el acusado también fue imputado el 20 de mayo por la Corte Federal del Distrito Sur de Florida por su presunta participación en el derribo de las avionetas de Hermanos al Rescate en febrero de 1996, caso en el que también aparece imputado el exgobernante cubano Raúl Castro.
La jueza Burger advirtió a González Pardo que debe prepararse para enfrentarse a la justicia en el sur de Florida por esa segunda acusación. Asimismo, señaló que podría ser deportado a Cuba y que no podrá regresar a Estados Unidos sin un permiso especial del gobierno, un escenario que ella misma calificó como prácticamente improbable. El comentarista del programa expresó su satisfacción por el avance del caso y cuestionó la responsabilidad de los familiares que tramitaron fraudulentamente el parol humanitario para traer al acusado al país.
