ALASKA-GIPFEL: „Putin ist auf amerikanischem Territorium ein angesehener Gast“In Alaska treffen der russische Präsident Putin und der amerikanische Präsident Trump aufeinander, um über den russischen Angriffskrieg in der Ukraine zu sprechen. Die militärische Lage im Krieg spielt dabei eine wichtige Rolle, analysiert Oberst a.D. Wolfgang Richter. „Natürlich wollen beide Seiten mit gewissen militärischen Erfolgen die Verhandlungssituation verbessern.“ Während die militärische Situation der Ukraine schwierig ist, wird Putin in Alaska als angesehener und willkommener Gast empfangen. „Er ist wieder auf Augenhöhe mit den USA und hat damit eigentlich ein erstes Teilziel erreicht.“ Trump habe die Isolation Russlands durchbrochen, so Richter. „Trump hat jetzt noch einmal deutlich gemacht, dass er auf Augenhöhe mit Putin redet und dass er sich nicht von den Europäern sagen lassen will, wie er in diesen Verhandlungen agieren soll.“
