Flight chaos hits Gulf and Europe as airlines hike fares
The ongoing war in Iran has severely disrupted travel and tourism across the Middle East, Gulf and Europe.Tens of thousands of flights have been cancelled, and research suggests tourist numbers to the region could fall by 25 percent if the war continues.
Volatile oil prices have forced airlines to raise fares, further threatening the industry.
Cyprus, which welcomed more than 4.5 million visitors last year, saw its airports temporarily closed after a drone attack on a British military base, though flights have now resumed.
