What the End of the Universe Will Look Like According to Scientists
The universe looks permanent. It isn’t.This video explores what scientists think the end of the universe could actually look like. From the slow disappearance of stars to a future dominated by black dwarfs, supermassive black holes, and eventually almost complete darkness.
Star formation is already far slower than it was billions of years ago. As usable hydrogen becomes harder to find, fewer new stars will appear. Existing stars will eventually burn through their fuel, leaving behind stellar remnants while black holes consume more of what remains. Even black holes may not survive forever. Hawking radiation suggests they could slowly evaporate over unimaginable timescales until the final sources of energy disappear. The leading long-term scenario is heat death - a universe approaching maximum entropy, with almost no usable energy left to power change, light, or life. But there may be an even faster possibility. False vacuum decay, a hypothetical event that could fundamentally alter the laws of physics without warning.
Whether the universe ends suddenly or fades away over trillions upon trillions of years, one conclusion remains the same. Nothing lasts forever.
