Mery geram karena Fadli sempat menyangkal kasus pemerkosaan terjadi pada Mei 1998.
"Bapak mempertanyakan dan Bapak seperti meragukan kebenaran. Ini amat sangat menyakiti, menyakiti, menyakiti kami," kata Mercy dalam rapat bersma Menteri Kebudayaan di Gedung DPR, Rabu (2/7/2025).
Politikus PDIP itu menuturkan, ia terlibat dalam Tim Gabungan Pencari Fakta (TGPF) bersama Komisi Nasional (Komnas) Perempuan pada 1999-2002 untuk mendalami kerusuhan di wilayah Maluku.
Hasilnya ditemukan banyak korban kekerasan seksual, namun mereka tak berani menceritakan karena trauma.
Mercy pun meminta Fadli untuk meminta maaf dan menghentikan proyek penulisan ulang sejarah.
Sebab, kasus pemerkosaan itu terjadi secara massal, tetapi kekelaman itu tak tertulis dalam sejarah.
"Kami percaya ya pak ya, daripada diteruskan dan berpolemik, mendingan dihentikan. Kalau bapak mau teruskan, ada banyak yang terluka di sini," imbuh dia.
