Tsunami ini terjadi seusai gempa bumi magnitudo 8,7, dan tiga gelombang tsunami menghantam kota pelabuhan Severo-Kurilsk di Rusia, Rabu (30/7/2025).
Diberitakan, gelombang ketiga tsunami ini sangat kuat.
Sebelumnya, gelombang tsunami hanya membanjiri sebagian kota.
Mengenai kondisi ini, warga berkumpul di sebuah bukit dan menetap di lokasi itu hingga ancaman tsunami berakhir.
Terkait dengan tsunami setinggi 3-4 meter, Menteri Urusan Darurat Regional Kamchatka Sergei Lebedev meminta warga menjauh dari garis pantai semenanjung.
Sementara itu, pihak berwenang terus melakukan koordinasi dalam upaya memastikan keselamatan warga.
Sebagai informasi, gempa magnitudo 8,7 ini menjadi yang terkuat melanda Semenanjung Kamchatka Timur Jauh Rusia, yang terpencil dan jarang penduduk.
Diketahui, Kamchatka adalah bagian dari Cincin Api Pasifik, suatu wilayah yang secara geologis rawan terhadap gempa bumi besar dan letusan gunung berapi.
