З початком повномасштабної війни три брати Коняєви з села Мирне Запорізької області, пішли захищати країну. Їхнє село захоплене Росією. Сергієві Коняєву було 24, коли він пішов служити. Він 54 дні з побратимами перебував на одній позиції під постійними обстрілами. Доводилось не лише ходити по зброюю і продукти, але й виносити поранених.У серпні 2024 року Сергій вже зібрав документи для навчання в Національній академії сухопутних військ у Львові. Командир попросив його виконати одне бойове завдання. З нього воїн повернувся важкопоранений. Він втратив руку і ногу. Його ампутація ноги дуже висока, а це велика складність у протезуванні. Але боєць уже ходить на протезах, також з біонічним протезом руки. Реабілітація вже завершилась. Зараз – відпустка з рідними, а далі – повернення у військовий підрозділ у якості інструктора.
