BREAKING: Six people, including a 5-year-old girl, were shot Saturday night in Baltimore, police said. Officers responded about 8:45 p.m. to Spaulding and Queensberry avenues and found four men and two women wounded, Police Commissioner Richard Worley said. The girl was shot in the hand and is expected to recover.A 38-year-old man was in critical condition after surgery, while the others — ages 23 to 52 — suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Worley said the victims had been gathered outside when a gunman opened fire. Homicide detectives are investigating.
U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine, Trump said on Friday. The Texas standoff, part of Trump’s push to secure more Republican House seats, could spill into other states. California Democrats are advancing a November special election that could flip five GOP-held districts.
Texas Republicans are escalating efforts to force Democrats back, including lawsuits, fines and arrest warrants. The special session ends Aug. 19, but Democrats show no sign of returning, framing the fight as a defense of democracy against partisan gerrymandering.
