US-MIDTERMS: "Ich weiß nicht, ob es jemals einen so klaren Sieg gab" - Trumps größte Niederlage?

Donald Trumps schwere Niederlage bei den US-Midterms könnte auch außenpolitische Folgen haben. CDU-Außenpolitiker Norbert Röttgen sieht darin eine Chance für Europa. Im WELT-Interview mit Dorothea Schupelius, macht er vor allem den Iran-Krieg und die gestiegenen Spritpreise für Trumps Wahldebakel verantwortlich: „Er hat diese Wahl an den Tankstellen Amerikas verloren.“ Scharfe Kritik übt Röttgen auch an Trumps Russland-Kurs. Der US-Präsident habe sich zuletzt mehr auf die Seite Moskaus als auf die der angegriffenen Ukraine gestellt. Neue Mehrheiten im Kongress könnten Trump nun stärker unter Druck setzen und seine Politik mäßigen. Für Deutschland und Europa sieht Röttgen darin eine wichtige Gelegenheit.
