Empat Paus Mati Terdampar di Jepang Pertanda Gempa, Biaya Penanganan Bangkai Capai Rp 8,8 Miliar

Temuan ini terjadi sehari sebelum gempa besar mengguncang Semenanjung Kamchatka, Rusia.
Pihak kepolisian Jepang telah mengonfirmasi kematian mamalia laut tersebut.
Namun hingga kini penyebabnya belum diketahui secara pasti.
Sejumlah pakar menduga paus mungkin tersesat akibat bentuk dasar laut atau terganggu oleh sonar dari kapal-kapal yang melintas.
Peneliti dari Universitas Tokai menyebutkan bahwa dari 48 kasus paus terdampar di Jepang antara 1923 dan 2011, hanya dua kejadian yang diikuti gempa besar dalam 30 hari.
Meski dugaan hubungan antara paus mati dan gempa sering dibicarakan, fokus utama publik justru tertuju pada biaya besar untuk menangani bangkai paus.
Total pengeluaran bisa mencapai 20 juta yen atau sekitar Rp2,24 miliar untuk satu ekor paus.
Sebagai contoh, pada Januari 2023, seekor paus bernama “Yodo-chan” di Osaka memerlukan penanganan senilai 80 juta yen atau sekitar Rp 8,8 miliar.
