Belgien will das bei dem Geldinstitut Euroclear gesperrte russische Vermögen nicht freigeben. Es handelt sich um gut 210 Milliarden Euro, die der Kreml dort angelegt hat - und die die EU verwenden möchte, um Kredite an die Ukraine zu finanzieren. Die belgische Regierung fürchtet Repressalien aus Russland und rechnet mit negativen Auswirkungen auf den Finanzplatz Brüssel. Denn Länder aus aller Welt haben bei Euroclear Geld angelegt.
