We Need to Talk about Blood Meridian.

This is a too-long historical analysis of Blood Meridian, with a particular emphasis on its connections to the account of Cabeza de Vaca, the cycle of violence conquistadors introduced to the American Southwest, the disenchantment of war, and how war, nonetheless, endures. Drawing from his knowledge of the Apache Wars and Conquistador hijinks (technical term), Cobbler hopes to add to the discourse surrounding McCarthy’s exploration of the Glanton Gang. Through it all, DJ Peach Cobbler will also argue that this is the “anti-war book” for our era, and its recent success is a reflection of our societal disenchantment with war, and how war, still, endures.
In order to dissect (or ramble about) Blood Meridian, Cobbler must explain the connections between Chivalric Romances, Conquistadors, as well as how, in spite of all his effort, this video remains a failure. It had to be. It was written by a pillar of salt.
