Papst Leo XIV. feiert Pfingstgottesdienst in Vatikanstadt
An Pfingsten haben Vertreter:innen der beiden großen christlichen Kirchen zum sozialen Miteinander aufgerufen.Bei seinem ersten Pfingstfest im neuen Amt hat Papst Leo XIV. zu Frieden in aller Welt aufgerufen. Am Ende des feierlichen Pfingstgottesdienstes auf dem Petersplatz sagte der Pontifex in seinem Mittagsgebet vor Zehntausenden Gläubigen, er setze auf einen Geist der Versöhnung inmitten globaler Spannungen und erbitte eine Gabe des Friedens.
Der Vorsitzende der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz, Bätzing, rief derweil zum sozialen Miteinander auf: „Denn wir Menschen sind nicht dafür gemacht, um uns selbst zu kreisen und unser Dasein zu sichern. Sich entfalten, wachsen, kommunizieren und Gemeinschaft erfahren, das macht doch das Leben erst wirklich lebenswert“, sagte der Limburger Bischof am Sonntag im Limburger Dom.
Die EKD-Ratsvorsitzende Kirsten Fehrs hat in ihrer Predigt zur Verteidigung von Demokratie und Menschenwürde aufgerufen. Auch dürfe das Grundrecht auf Asyl niemals zur Disposition stehen, sagte sie in der Hamburger Hauptkirche St. Michaelis.
