Mehr politischen Einfluss: Taliban wollen mehr eigene Diplomaten Europa

Nach Deutschland entsenden die in Afghanistan regierenden Taliban bereits Diplomaten. Laut NDR-Recherchen soll das möglichst auch in weiteren EU-Staaten der Fall sein. Als Gegenleistung bieten die Taliban Zusammenarbeit bei Abschiebungen an.

Kritiker:innen warnen davor, dass die Taliban auf diese Weise die Kontrolle dieser diplomatischen Missionen übernehmen könnten. Bislang werden zahlreiche Botschaften Afghanistans noch von Diplomat:innen geleitet, die vor der Machtübernahme der Taliban im August 2021 entsandt worden waren. NDR-Journalist Peter Hornung berichtet über seine Recherchen und wie die Taliban in Europa Einfluss gewinnen wollen.
