ASML, TSMC y el reto de los 12 pulgadas: ¿Qué está pasando?
ASML y TSMC quieren cambiar una de las piezas más básicas de la fabricación de semiconductores: las fotomáscaras.Con la llegada de las máquinas High-NA EUV, la nueva óptica anamórfica utiliza una reducción 4x/8x que provoca que el campo máximo de exposición sobre la oblea se reduzca aproximadamente a la mitad en uno de sus ejes. Esto supone un problema enorme para fabricar chips cada vez más grandes, especialmente GPUs y aceleradores de inteligencia artificial.
La solución que está estudiando la industria pasa por utilizar fotomáscaras mucho más grandes, capaces de recuperar un campo de exposición completo y evitar algunas de las limitaciones actuales del High-NA EUV.
Pero lo más curioso es que este problema no es nuevo. Intel ya habló públicamente de esta limitación hace años e incluso propuso nuevos formatos de máscara para futuras generaciones de litografía High-NA.
