And, after reporting the headlines, they hoped there might be a chance to get a real taste of Ankara.
Often overlooked for the more popular tourist destination Istanbul, this landlocked city of more than 5.5 million people has been a seat of administrative and political power since 1923. But, despite its rich 3,000 year history, Ankara's culture often takes a backseat to its ability to host world leaders.
