Este año, los premios Golden Goblet han recibido cerca de 4.000 candidaturas de todo el mundo, lo que supone un nuevo récord. Entre ellas, 49 películas compiten en cinco categorías. El director de cine italiano Giuseppe Tornatore ha sido designado presidente del jurado de la sección principal de los Premios Cáliz de Oro.
