Santos é uma cidade de Estado do São Paulo. Os habitantes se chamam santistas.
O município se estende por 281,1 km² e contava com 418 608 habitantes no último censo. A densidade demográfica é de 1 489,4 habitantes por km² no território do município.
Vizinho dos municípios de São Vicente, Cubatão e Guarujá, Santos se situa a 33 km a Sul Leste de Mauá.
Situado a 2 metros de altitude, de Santos tem as seguintes coordenadas geográficas: Latitude: 23° 56' 13'' Sul, Longitude: 46° 19' 30'' Oeste.
Santos é o lar do Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar.
Aparecida
Segundo bairro mais populoso de Santos, com cerca de 50 mil habitantes, a Aparecida foi desmembrada do Macuco em 1968. A denominação é inspirada na Igreja Nossa Senhora da Aparecida, fundada em 1943 e situada na Avenida Afonso Pena, 350. Localizado entre os bairros Embaré e Ponta da Praia, também entre os canais 5 e 6, é delimitado por cinco grandes avenidas - Bartolomeu de Gusmão, Almirante Cochrane, Afonso Pena, Joaquim Montenegro e Pedro Lessa.
