BILD besucht unsere Raketen-Hoffnung in Nordschweden
BILD in Esrange, Europas Weltraumbahnhof in Nordschweden und bald der erste Startplatz für orbitale Raketen auf dem europäischen Festland. Hier in Esrange werden auch Tests für künftige Mond- und Marsmissionen durchgeführt. Zum Beispiel ein Test eines Fallschirms, mit dem ein Rover auf dem Mars landen könnte. Auch deutsche Forscher schicken mit den Raketen hier in Kiruna immer wieder Experimente ins All, außerdem finden Tests von Raketenmotoren statt. Und Esrange wächst weiter. Hier wird auch Themis der Ariane Group getestet: Sie ist die erste wiederverwendbare Raketenstufe Europas. In einem sogenannten Hoptest soll sie auf dem Raketenbahnhof ein paar Meter hochfliegen und wieder landen. Sie könnte – so der Plan – der Grundstein für größere wiederverwendbare Raketen und damit günstigere Reisen ins All sein.
