Insiden nahas ini terjadi di area barat Alun-alun Garut, Jawa Barat seusai salat Jumat.
Para korban kemudian dibawa ke RSUD dr Slamet Garut dan Rumah Sakit Guntur Talun.
Berdasarkan informasi, korban meninggal atas nama Vania Aprilia berusia delapan tahun, Dewi Jubaedah berusia 61 tahun, dan seorang polisi atas nama Bripka Cecep Saeful Bahri berusia 39 tahun.
Berdasarkan video yang beredar di media sosial, tampak warga berjubel dan kerumunan yang tak terkontrol.
Petugas Satpol PP dan kepolisian yang bertugas sampai kewalahan menghadapi antusiasme warga.
Beberapa anak-anak bahkan sampai terjatuh dan terjepit kerumunan warga.
Sejumlah warga sudah memperingatkan bahwa ada beberapa orang yang terjepit namun tak dihiraukan.
Adapun mayoritas warga yang mengantre adalah lansia dan anak-anak.
Mereka berjubel di pintu gerbang pendopo Garut yang menjadi akses agar bisa masuk dan menikmati makanan gratis yang disajikan.
Sejumlah warga yang pingsan kemudian diberikan perawatan medis di ambulans.
