A massive barrier lake in Tibet began overflowing, leading to a dam burst, triggering fears of another devastating flood surge along the Nepal-Tibet border, just days after catastrophic flooding killed hundreds and left more than 1,400 people missing. Nepal has temporarily halted rescue operations in some areas and warned residents to move to higher ground as authorities monitor the growing flood threat. The earlier disaster struck Nepal's Rasuwa district and parts of Tibet after ice and rock collapsed in the high Himalayas, unleashing a torrent of water and debris downstream. Roads, bridges and critical infrastructure were destroyed, while entire communities were swept away.
