Parfois considéré comme un simple effet de mode, le tatouage possède en réalité une histoire ancestrale : comme en témoigne la célèbre momie glaciaire Ötzi, cette pratique existait déjà il y a plus de cinq mille ans.
Un descendant de Christian Warlich, père allemand du tatouage moderne, nous livre ses anecdotes. Dans la vieille ville de Jérusalem, Wassim Razzouk raconte la tradition familiale qu’il perpétue, tatouant des pèlerins chrétiens. Quant au Néerlandais Henk Schiffmacher, il attire à Amsterdam des célébrités comme Lady Gaga et les Red Hot Chili Peppers.
