Spoiler-free final boss fight so people can see it if they want. I included all of the cutscenes, alongside the post credits cutscene. I had to leave the credits out as they had copyrighted music in the background. The first playthrough is roughly 10-15 hours long depending on how much you look around, and if you skip or speed up cutscenes it's obviously a lot less. So I'm posting the final boss now because it's over that 10 hour period since the game initially released.
As for this boss specifically: it's a decent final boss, but frustrating to do no damage. The camera was especially bad for this boss, more often than not getting stuck at some wrong angle. I really wish there was some way to just have it lock in the one spot over the same position of your character, instead of it weirdly rotating around at different angles. The lock on option seems to make almost no difference to how it works.
There was also very few openings to reliably use abilities or deal damage. If you used an ability at a point where the boss wasn't stunned, it would still summon the clones that could damage you mid animation despite the main boss being stunned. I had times where the clones themselves would bug out and extra ones would spawn off their usual cadence and order. Just annoying things that impacted no damage runs especially, and made it so you were limited with how aggressive you can be.
There's also unavoidable damage you take in this right before phase 3 begins, nothing you can do about that. Can't block or dodge during it, which makes sense given what is happening. The final phase you're also immune to damage and the hits don't do anything to you there, which I wasn't too bothered about avoiding.
As for my thoughts on the game as I mentioned on the previous videos: I don't think it's as bad as people are making out (or are expecting), but at the same time I wouldn't say it's amazing either. It's still a good game and I think most people will have a fun enough time with it.
For me I'm nearly always combat focused, and in this the combat feels very button-mashy overall. There's not too many boss fights, and they aren't the most engaging or interesting fights. It probably doesn't help that the fights all have very long cutscene sequences between the phases, and wanting to go for no damage clears without having weird cuts mid-fight it can make them drag out. The worst enemy though is the camera angles that can happen, it gets either entirely obstructed or just really weird angles that are very offputting.
There's a lot of story and cutscenes overall, outweighing the combat quite heavily. There are some cool sequences though that I think people will enjoy. Otherwise, as somebody who's never really been interested in the X-Men stories, I wasn't hugely invested in it either, outside of a few moments towards the end.
Overall it was an enjoyable experience. It's not quite my preferred style of game, as it's more about the story and less about the combat, which I prefer the opposite. But at the same time I think it was better than what people led me to believe.
I will have an all bosses compilation up in a little while. The first two bosses weren't anything spoiler related, but the following bosses were heavily so. So I just wanted to save them for that.
