The Person I Was Becoming All Along | Delisha Soni | TEDxTSMS Noida Youth

Why is the version of you that lives in "tomorrow" always so much more productive than the one standing here today? Opening with Ross and his couch, Schrödinger's cat, and the most dangerous words in the English language "I'll start tomorrow". Delisha takes apart the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and when we'll finally become it.

She retraces her first day interning at IIT Delhi, walking into a seminar room full of PhD scholars twice her age and quietly deciding she didn't belong until a professor turned to the last row and asked her what she thought. That single moment, she realized, revealed the truth that in reality the only person who doubted she belonged was her. From writing a research paper on rocket nozzles to co-founding a student initiative with her best friend, she found her most interesting experiences looked like they belonged to three different people and asks why we're so often told to choose just one passion, one path, one version of ourselves.

Her answer is an invitation: to stop wishing you were the flawless version who finished everything on time, and to thank instead every messy, stressed, late-night version of yourself that actually got you here. Delisha Soni is an IBDP student at The Shriram Millennium School, Noida, with a passion for aerospace engineering, scientific research, and creating meaningful social impact. She is a published researcher in rocket propulsion systems, with her work featured in the IJFMR. As a Research Intern at IIT Delhi, she explores advanced scientific concepts while deepening her interest in engineering and innovation. Beyond academics, Delisha is the Co-Founder of the S.H.E. Initiative, a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to empowering women through education, self-defence drives, environmental campaigns, and community outreach. She also serves as the Head of ICT at her school, leading technology initiatives and promoting digital innovation among students. Driven by curiosity and purpose, she believes the most meaningful innovations emerge where science, creativity, and leadership intersect.
