The Sport that Keeps Knocking on the Olympic Door | Sandy Liu | TEDxWahaha Schools Youth

The Olympic bid for Latin and Standard dancing has failed again and again in recent years. But Breaking--a street dance born far from the stadiums--took place under the Olympic rings in 2024 unexpectedly yet remarkably. If so, why were Latin and Standard dancing being left outside the Olympic door? Sandy is a Grade 11 student who has been practicing Latin dance since the age of six. What started as a hobby soon became a serious part of her life. Over time, she became interested not only in technique but also in the history of Latin and Standard dance. Now, she hopes to advocate for their inclusion in the Youth Olympic Games. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
