Sempat beredar kabar bahwa ledakan terjadi karena jatuhnya meteor hingga adanya bom.
Namun polisi memastikan penyebabnya adalah tabung gas LPG 12 kilogram.
Dalam investigasi, tim gabungan dari Unit Jibom dan Puslabfor Mabes Polri mendapati beberapa temuan.
Ditemukan regulator gas yang rusak dan dililit isolasi hitam.
Kemudian tabung gas 12 kg dalam keadaan kosong serta tuas kompor yang masih dalam posisi on.
"Ada 1 tabung LPG ukuran 12 kg, kemudian tabung LPG 3 kg juga ada 3 buah, lalu selang regulator, satu buah kompor gas serta ada bahan-bahan yang sudah berbekas terbakar kami amankan," ujar Kasubdit Metalurgi Forensik Puslabfor Polri, Kompol Heriyandi.
Tim Gegana Satbrimob Polda Metro Jaya juga memastikan tidak ada residu bahan peledak di lokasi.
Diduga ledakan dahsyat ini terjadi akibat akumulasi gas yang memenuhi ruangan tertutup dan terpicu oleh percikan api.
Oleh karena itu, Dansat Brimob Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Henik Maryanto mengimbau masyarakat untuk lebih waspada dalam penggunaan tabung gas.
Ia menekankan pentingnya memastikan instalasi gas aman dan tidak memperbaiki sendiri jika ada kerusakan.
