Ahmedabad Plane Crash LIVE: Single Miracle Survivor Ramesh Vishvaskumar | More Than 200 DeadAn Air India flight en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday, striking the BJ Medical College hostel in Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft, operating as flight AI 171, had 242 passengers and crew on board.
According to Air India’s official statement on social media platform 'X', the passengers included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian national, and seven Portuguese nationals.
The flight departed Ahmedabad at 13:38 hrs local time. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed, and the injured are being transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Air India has activated a dedicated helpline for affected families: 1800 5691 444, and confirmed it is fully cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
