Violent protests have erupted across the Democratic Republic of Congo over President Felix Tshisekedi's proposed constitutional reforms, with demonstrators clashing with police in Kinshasa and other cities. Security forces used tear gas and warning shots to disperse protesters, while several arrests were reported as opposition groups mobilised against the proposed changes. Hundreds of opposition supporters also took to the streets in Kinshasa after the 'C64' opposition coalition called for nationwide action against the constitutional reform plan.Protests and arrests were also reported in Lubumbashi, Mbandaka, South Kivu and Tanganyika. The dispute centres on proposed changes to the DRC constitution that may extend Tshisekedi’s term.
