Charles O'Bannon Throws Down the And-1 Dunk Past Eric Piatkowski

March 28, 1999 - After propelling UCLA to an NCAA championship alongside his brother Ed in 1995, Charles O'Bannon was selected 31st overall in the 1997 NBA Draft. Tucked deep on a backcourt depth chart that included Joe Dumars, Lindsey Hunter, Malik Sealy, and Jerry Stackhouse, O'Bannon's on-court opportunities were limited during his two years in Detroit. Still, returning home for a game against the Los Angeles Clippers, O'Bannon found a way to give the people what they wanted in his limited minutes, skirting past Eric Piatkowski for an and-1 flush, capping off his team's 94-76 win.

O'Bannon's NBA career came to a close following the lockout-shortened 1999 season. From there, he embarked on a 14-year career overseas in Italy, Poland, and Japan.

O'Bannon (1993) and his son, Charles Jr. (2017), were both named McDonald's High School All-Americans.
